3 ways to rock in the workplace

Employers want to keep the top performers in their business happy and close to them. Top performers talked about here are the proactive ones, the ones who keep track of the value they add to the organization. Do you stand up to the obligations of the position curated closely by your employers, keeping in mind the urgencies of the organization? Or are you unaware of your worth to the organization? How do you measure your effectiveness?

You would think tracking your key performance indicators and contributions to the organization only implies how beneficial you are to the organization. Unfortunately, this is not true. As much as your employers need to keep a track of the value that your work adds to their organization, so do you.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself to measure your effectiveness in your role.

  1. Am I staying abreast of the current with development opportunities and industry trends?

Working on your skills to match the status quo is something expected of every candidate that’s hired. The ones who stay abreast of new updates and regulations in the industry trends by attending courses and webinars are the ones that are real assets to the organisation. So it’s high time you bring about a change in your vision.

  1. Are you a keen problem solver?

You’re on one of two sides: The problem or the solution. If you’re creative enough to manage the unforeseen challenges that arise in your work, you may be on the top of the retaining talent list of your employer! For instance, suppose you came up with a strategy that streamlined processes and finished your project earlier than the deadline. Time saved is the money saved!

  1. Do you use constructive criticism and errors to improve your performance?

Do you learn from your mistakes? Do you listen to others feedback about your work performance?  Exercising this on a routine basis is the key to growth. Failures resulting from your errors are the lessons that prove of greatest worth in your entire career. An organisation deserves someone who doesn’t give up after a couple of defeats and criticism because that’s really just learning! Are you such a person?

Conclusion

Plato rightly said “All things will be superior when each man works meddling with anyone else.” So the only gist you should be working on is your self assessment and progress! Because it’s with you that organisation exists.

Also some surveys found that employee happiness boosted productivity by about 12%. Be versatile, be consistent but be happy!

When it comes to growth and remuneration, the only way is to prove to yourself and to the rest, how you’re capable of much more that is confided in you!
